There's nothing stupid about that standpoint. There's nothing to argue either. It's there to get the player from A to B. Nothing more is to be found by looking at it, and while it's true it could have been a tree or connected by land, they chose that probably because it's shape and colour stand out and it's presence reinforces the players knowledge that this ring's natural part is a coverup because underneath it's all machine.

I think it's quite obvious that the ring was not natural to begin with. The thing is though the metal bridge serves no purpose other than connect a very small piece of land to another piece of land for no reason other than the main character could walk over it. You are going to tell me an advanced race that builds efficient death machines is going to waste metal on connecting some area to another area for reasons.

Or from a game design POV to prompt the player to walk accross as, everything around you is organic fauna, in contrast to the massive metal bridge.

well, there are pointless bridges everywhere in the world.

i guess the forerunners just said "aesthetic" and placed a bridge there.

or maybe it's an aqueduct or something; i mean, that shit is everywhere.

Maybe they are some kind of underground support braces of some sort that was exposed over the years from water flow coming from the small river.
For whatever reason it is there, it is most likely not to be used as a "bridge", but was probably just exposed because of ground erosion if anything.

Nope, I'm going to tell you that Bungie needed an obvious marker to tell which way the player needs to go and they chose a forerunner bridge/pipe thing. That's all there is to it. True, technically that forerunners built it, but like, so what?

I'm arguing it seems like inconsistency considering what the Forerunners are. I wouldn't think of them as people who would waste resources while making the rings.

Tbh, it would make more sense as sentinel tunnels. They have to move around the ring with ease while remaining protected, so it would only make sense for those kinds of things to exist. Iirc they're on AoTcR too
