Who else is excited for this?? I think we needed this :D

The only way you can get excited is if you own an Xbox One which is the only way you will ever truly appreciate your creations. In other words I'm not excited at all seeing as I don't have an Xbox One and even less so since it is Halo 5.

@Lolslayer, the cutoff is in like 2 months, I think. Might wanna look into it, and start trying maybe half a month earlier, as the first installation isnt always the smoothest. You know, prepare for the worst.

I'm still surprised noone has hacked out the privacy shit, I mean windows 10 really does sound like a great OS, but the idea of them tracking literally everything I do on my pc for "ads", "quality assurance" and other bullshit does not fly with me.

My transfer was smooth about 5 - 6 months ago. The only issue I had was that it uninstalled my nvidia card and reverted my audio drivers to factory standards. Quick fixed, hardly any issues since. I essentially crippled Cortana the first chance I got - far too intrusive for my liking. The options to do it are forced onto you before you even reach the desktop the first time.

Also, is it recommended to make a backup of all your files before updating?

Really because as I and many other people understand it there are keyloggers and other things that literally cannot be disabled?

Are there any articles that show that you can turn them ALL off? I simply won't upgrade unless I know it's possible.

At first I thought you were going all tin-foil hat on me, but apparently yeah there's a keylogger in it.

and I can confirm the things you turn off in this tutorial are the same ones i had the option to turn off put infront of me as I installed it.

Ha! I already had the keylogger turned off, and I didn't even know it was there.

Also @lolslayer from a technical standpoint that would be a good idea but I haven't heard of anyone who didn't have a smooth install and if your hard drive is pretty big and almost full I wouldn't bother.

You can't turn off the spying functions anyhow without some registry editing. For example if you get a program to see network traffic on your PC a lot of it is going to Microsoft for data collection. The problem is even if you disable everything and block the IP Microsoft uses to transfer data in your hosts file they ignore the IP you disabled so that they can continue sending data.

At the end of the day it really depends on how far you want to go for your privacy which I don't think would make you strange at all. Linux will solve all of your problems with spying for the most part. Disabling the spying functions in Windows 10 while using browsers like Firefox with search engines like DuckDuckGo will help you somewhat.

I don't see the problem with the spying though, it isn't like they are going to put a video on the internet of you wanking of to mia kalifa when they watch what you're doing, I will probably never find out that I'm spied on and I will never be harmed by it that way
