Forgive me for attempting to stray into this, but in order for 343 to justify a new halo, they end up changing the core experience into something Halo veterans don't like. 343 might like it - and others too - but if you don't like it you don't have to buy it. The closest we're going to get to Halo 3 on xbox one is the MCC which isn't in good shape right now as far as players but its in better shape than Halo 3 on 360. If you like 343's additions, then fine. If you don't, then fine. Even if 343 turned around and released Halo 3 anniversary as Halo 5, it probably still shouldn't warrant the $400 for an xbox one and the game.

Point is: Core Halo is probably not coming back under 343's lead. They're trying new things which is fine and if you don't like them I don't think they're going to go back to core halo anytime soon so just don't buy the games. If you like the new things then fine, I'm not going to argue if its what you enjoy. I may not like it and others may not either but in the end it is what it is.

Is Halo (in it's current form) a sub-par traditional arena shooter experience? Yes.
If people like Slayer and RMT want to throw money at a dying franchise? Sure that's up to them, I'm fine playing quake arena.

Did you know that in Halo waypoint there are hundreds of threads about how Halo 3 sucks and how Halo 2 is the king or vice versa, then theres people who say Halo 1 is the best and that they should remove the BR and replace it with the pistol.... theres also people who say Halo 3 had the worst story or people that say Halo 4 loadouts and killstreaks should come back in Halo 5 theres people who Hate Halo 5 because it's not like Halo 4, People who hate Halo 5 because its not like Halo 3, People who Hate Halo 2 because it's not like Halo 1, People who hate the original trilogy and fell in love with Halo 4, people who bash all who say 343 is decent and vice versa...
