Are triangles bad?
Also about the Gungnir thing, it's my favorite helmet, but R93 haets it ;-; so I guess I not mention it anymore.
Great model btw, I've always wondered, what is the thing at the top front of the barrel?

It's significantly easier to model with squares (quads). Such as creating subdivisions or simply cuts throughout the object. If you're cutting through a bunch of triangles, it will most certainly create even more. And they aren't really great to work with at all. Also, it is much easier to look at a model with quads. Easier to judge and detect problems in meshes etc.
If my entire model was made from triangles, believe me, it would not look as good at all. Unless there is a huge amount of them. Quads just provide a smooth and clean topology overall.
Triangles aren't bad in certain areas, but that always depends. Majority of the time, they aren't great. (Like the case that happened with my model in that area mentioned in the above comments)
I literally have no idea what that second top barrel is for. Could be a laser I assume, that was just never used in the game.

Ever wonder why in halo 1 you could zoom in but there were no sights? Yeah that thing is why. It's called the "Smart-Scope". OG Halo had that shit

So 343 didn't just pull that out of their 4certainlettertwice but its actually a real thing?
The UNSC just decided "Oh, we don't need to put that thing in the barrel anymore" and put it on the top instead "just because".

It was originally made for use with ODST Visors, but adapted use into Spartan Visors. Made it easier to scope out enemies without having to actually having to move your head into a position. Also makes it possible for you to look around corners and fire without having to expose yourself to danger.
