UNSC Magnum - 3D Project of mine.
Well, firstly, hello! I am new and this is my first post. I stumbled upon this majestic project and thought it was damn awesome what you people are achieving here.

That looks amazing. It puts the energy sword handle to shame imo.

...That is actually a really good model. Your topology is also really well done so I applaud you on that front as well. Though I disagree with heatguts saying that it trumps the energy sword handle, its still good work nonetheless

We should export it with as many polygons as possible, then put it in a stock ce map but with just enough polygons to be 1 below the polygon limit at all times, and also keep the shiny shiny

I am here, I like it. Though it seems a bit empty. Like a lack of small details.
I do not know how the thingy is called. (Edit by R93: He's talking about the slide) But everytime someone uses the Magnum he pulls the back and releases it, loading the bullet. I do not know of you considered the animations and thus made that a separate part and modelled what's under it.
Oh, and the front looks a bit too short IMO.

Yep, I'll be adding more detail to it when I get home today. And better texturing for the handle. It should fix those 'issues'

My friend suggested the exact same thing, a scarab. Coincidence? I think not!
Also: For the front being too short. I don't think it's possible. I had the side of the gun directly on there as I was modelling it. Specifically made sure it was to scale. Maybe it's just the perception :P
There are 40592 polygons. So it ain't too bad I guess.
Added some some extra stuff to it, will render and upload tomorrow. It should be better.

Updated the main thread (New updated pics and a short video). Will begin working on a new project now. Slowly, but gradually.

Trigger looks a bit too boxy. And could post renders from better angels with just a gray AO shader applied to it allong with the wireframe?

back of the smartscope has some artifacts on the incline, and the area above the trigger guard doesn't flow correctly either. While the rest is fine, adding some personal touches would be nice, including but not limited to: making the front of the handle less blocky, engraving the top of the slide, adding rails to the bottom of the muzzle, and adding little decal slots here and there

Yeh, noticed the small area above the trigger guard. If kept in high poly it is barely visible. It flows wrong because there are triangles there... (Which suck) due to me making cuts all across the gun to modify other areas of the gun without creating N-gons. Could fix it my deleting and reconnecting the points the points there. Same deal with the incline at the end of the smartscope area.
I tried avoiding personal touches to keep it 'original' as it was in Halo. Halo 1 mostly to be specific. The extra handle cover actually shouldn't be there either, but that area feels empty without it.
Might get around to those minor things to fix it. Could probably add some more personal touches. But other than that, I consider this project complete. Will get around to working on a Scarab next I think.

If you really want to make it easier on you, you could easily just have that one edge be an open edge, as you'll end up baking it in later as I would assume. You can really make the entire trigger guard a separate element really.
