Apsuli's art - Page 2 Empty Re: Apsuli's art

Post by xNFx Monsta February 25th 2015, 6:01 pm

You should never compare the art you make to anyone else's, just don't. I mean sure its good to look at art and find inspiration but if you are going to look at it and say "damn i wish i could do that in three hours" then you aren't really doing art for a passion but rather you are doing it for attention. You need to have a lot of patience when doing art and never compare the look of your work to the work of other artists.

Everyones art will look different no matter how good of an artist you become everyone has their own styles. You just need to sit back and create goals with your art if you are finding that its hard to continue because of a lack of motivation. Its hard to explain but what I'm trying to say is don't do art for the sake of showing it off to others, do it so you can say I achieved something and I'm one step closer to getting better.

Sorry for the long post but yeah thats just my thoughts. :)

Yea.
For me, I'm not really an artist but on the rare occasion I do break out the creative tools, it's either in PS or Straight, lines, objects I can make with a ruler.

Very true. The variety of art is one of the roots of its charm. If everyone used the same style there would be no personality. I love Wang Ling's art and I'm jealous of his efficiency, but I don't mean to sound like I want to paint like him. That part was supposed to be more like a joke added randomly to the end of the post to give little bit of a filler for an otherwise very short post.

I've lately been drawing more into my sketchbook because I just seem to run out of flow when I try to do anything bigger. I do honestly believe that I have abilities beyond what is shown in my current paintings if I had the patience, flow and motivation to keep going till the end. I've also finally got my scanner working again, so if I was to make something interesting traditionally you will be seeing it.

'kkay, so this time my tablet died for realz. I got a new one however. I was planning to get an Intuos but I decided to be a cheap cunt and get Huion H610 instead because screw Wacom and their overpriced crap.
Its been very nice so far, its little bit small but the 2048 levels of pressure feel great.
During the time of broken'ess I drew 3 60 page sketchbooks and tried to do some studies in anatomy and perspective.

Well, for me to post this here you might be expecting I actually have something to show and that, is absolutely incorrect. I just want the free post count and to tell you that there will probably be something pretty soon.

Finished this few minutes ago. You can see that I started slacking pretty badly near the end but I'm still pretty happy with it, and this will probably be closest I will get to completing something for a while.

EDIT: Heh, never heard of her.

Once again something little bit more sketchy. Seems like only females end up being uploaded but I do actually draw males too.
That ear is way too high up.

It feels like I'm slowly starting to get a hang of this. Got to keep going -->

I would suggest that you try looking at anatomical references and practice (i could actually get you a shitton of references too), because once you understand that, everything is easier

I do actually use quite a bit of reference. I also do some life drawing online which I find to teach me quite a bit. I'm always looking for new things to study however!

Do you see some flaws in anatomy of this one? I can't spot anything too obvious... I guess I could see someone having a complaint about the slightly hard to read figure of the waist.

Spoiler:
This is the original sketch for the character. I think that the area of rib cage looks a bit unnatural as well as the joint of the right leg but I think I got those pretty well covered in the final version.

The upper picture with the girl playing kantele has much more wrong with it than just anatomy lol. I could try to excuse it by saying that I did it mostly to play with perspective and test out the new tablet. Its not exactly any better, but here is original sketch for her too.

Most of those issues come around the shoulders and chest, you make it look like the latter of which is caved in slightly. The shoulder width also looks too narrow for any muscles to be properly supported (although that might be a perspective issue). I also cant really get over that face of hers, but it may be a stylistic detail which im just being too harsh on.

Here comes the Apsuli's art - Page 2 Double10.
So I've had Krita for few months, but I never got around to really testing it out. Until this week, that is. And I feel like I've found the love of my life. Everything about it just seems to be perfectly compatible with my brain.

I really don't have anything that cool done on it yet, but I made this speedpaint in little under an hour while testing out things.

Its been a while since I've had this much fun drawing stuff. Hopefully there will be more stuff to see soon.

EDIT: I guess I might aswell put one unfinished crap to the mix.

Perspective went poops. I'll blame it on latedrawing, like always.

Weird judgement to make considering the speedpaint is a lot more abstract than the "unfinished crap"

Thanks for the comments!

Today has been one productive day by my standards and would continue to be if I didn't need to sleep.

Nothing special to be said about this. I wasn't watching the clock but it probably didn't take much over one hour.

I was joking about a Halo gametype where you would play as a moa with robotic arms that can punch gravity hammer hits In PC's Skype chat. I was actually bored enough to quickly draw this concept. Who knows maybe I'll one day actually make that design document. ;)

I participated in Oldschool Runescape's Monkey Madness 2 log in screen competition. Didn't win, obviously. Was fun still.
Spoiler:
I photoshopped the "log in" things in afterwards for the sake of presentation.

To justify the gravedig here are some sketches I did while warming up.
Spoiler:

Aside from some small editing these were all done with Krita. I've really started to like that thing.
