Xbox Avatar Games
- A bit longer of a post than I originally intended, but worth the read.:
- I recently found out that there are indie games available on Xbox Live that use your custom Xbox Avatar as the player character. I tried a few of them, and most of them are either poor concepts that would be seen on kids games for mobile devices, or they had poor controls. But one really stood out:
Avatar Miner Paintball.
This game was the true gold in a pile of Pyrite. The controls are descent, but they could use a little work (after all, it is an Xbox indie game starring your Avatar, so these are notorious for poor controls. At least this one did well.), the online connection is nearly flawless, and it is a balanced Arena FPS much like Halo. By default, AMP has 16 maps. A few of them are original designs, while most of them are recreations of popular maps from other games. Such as Facing Worlds from Unreal Tournament, Block Fort from Mario Kart 64, Hang Em' High and Battle Creek from Halo, and even a couple from Counter Strike Source and CoD. But you can even create your own maps.
That is the main reason why this is called Avatar MINER Paintball. The environment is pretty much a rip off of Minecraft. The creation controls could've at least copied Minecraft's controls. But at least you have more tools, items, and options when it comes to creating maps. Lay down teleporters, gravity fluctuations, or just simply create a map out of blocks to compete in. The arsenal is pretty great too, with FN2000 being the Assault Rifle, M16 being the Battle Rifle, MK.23 as the pistol, RPGs, a Sniper Rifle, a Spas-12, grenades, bow / arrow (Surprisingly overpowered), and your own bare fists. In order to get a E10+ rating, the developer made the game a paintball game, so your shots will paint the ground and stuff. But all in all, if the movement animations were improved; it would be equivalent to a AAA title.
I just wanted to share the knowledge about this fun little game. It doesn't take up much space on a hard-drive, being less than 1/2 a GB for the game itself. Best of all, since it is an indie game; it is only $1! I hope that you guys get this game, because it plays pretty much like the classic Halo and has creation tools. Plus, there is an update coming up to add a co-operative zombie mode. Other than that, it is a Free-For-All / Team FPS game capable of supporting 24 players in a single match. As a minor added bonus, in free-for-all, you can choose what color your paintballs and paintball mask is.

Re: Xbox Avatar Games
...if only I still had my 360... I always wondered how Block fort would be like in an FPS.
Sounds like AOS classic except with more stuff and on console. Why isn't this guy developing for PC lol?

Re: Xbox Avatar Games
Probably because Microsoft hasn't realized the benefit of having Xbox Avatars on PC as well.

Re: Xbox Avatar Games
Is the only reason it stands out to you is because it is an Xbox avatar game? There are hundreds of games just like the one you described without the Xbox avatar shit. Murder Miners comes to mind with the exact features you described and it even has COOP survival to boot.
None of them are very good unless you lower your standards though and that includes the mentioned clone game in my post.
