Re: Dedicated Halo 5 Thread
Thoughts on Halo 5: Day 2
What happened to the delete all button in forge? The machinima controls were rather difficult to figure out, but pretty cool. Gave the plasma caster a second chance, it's pretty good except for the time I accidentally betrayed two teammates with it right before we lost the match 48-50. The energy sword can aim down sight? WHY? Arena games seem to always give the same amount of req points no matter how you do (700-800). I've now been in two warzone matches that didn't let anyone use loadout reqs. I thought it was a rare occurrence but then I was ticked and I picked up a battle rifle from some dead marine and went on to live out the rest of the match with that life and ended with a killing frenzy. Why can't you see your best spree after warzone matches? I wanted to know exactly how many people threw their controllers across the room because I shot them with the equivalent of a power weapon (compared to the poor ar + pistol that I was fighting them with medium to long range) that you can keep getting ammo for. What happened to the silent cartographer based warzone map? I've played maybe 10 matches and it has yet to show up. I wouldn't be surprised except there's only 4 freakin' maps and I should have hit it twice by now at least. And last of all, after the aforementioned BS no-loudout changing killing frenzy base defense spree, I had barely enough req points for a silver req pack so I opened it before quitting and 343 MADE RECON ARMOR A COMMON UNLOCK. I can smell the respect for past entries.
I have almost 50 saw reqs and exactly 2 shotguns, even though they both have a common rarity. Go figure. (haven't used any single-use reqs yet so those are lifetime figures right there).

Lmao all those issues are the same ones I had
except a bit reversed because I've played Raid on Apex 7 (Silent Cartographer) Like 100000 times
The No loadout warzone matches are A NEW occurence that literally came out of nowhere and it happened to me like 3 times in a row and I got way more ticked
off that I decided to do a Machinima based on that stupid concept because? f*** it.
Lol Yeah Recon is a common unlock haha But I think there's an Ultra-Rare variant of it which has like a weirder design
Oh and did I mention about that time I killed a 343i Employee?
I made damn sure he payed for his crimes against god and man

I'm still pissed that Forge Mode is a DLC... Question, does anyone know if it is free?

Re: Dedicated Halo 5 Thread
It is not free. It is part of the 60 big ones you paid for. While I understand the reason why it is delayed. You should not consider it a "gift" from the "kindhearted" 343. It is part of the money you paid for already and if you consider that a "gift" then next time you're gonna have to pay for it.

$120, actually. It's $60 for the game itself, but apparently you need XBL Gold to play on it, so that's another $60 for a mode that used to be primarily offline with the option for online use. An online connection is required to forge in Halo 5.
As amazing as the new forge features are, they are completely overshadowed by the lack of offline/splitscreen capabilities. Not to mention the fact that they changed the default forge controls without throwing in a controller option for the old way (they let you use older/favored control schemes after CODifying the default ones for campaign/MM, why the hell would the same logic not apply to forge controls?)

Re: Dedicated Halo 5 Thread
Halo 5 pretty much has a lot of new pros, but the number of cons it has puts it below what the quota number of points are. Think of it as a sort of tally chart. Count all the Pros and cons, and tally mark em until you have two columns: left being Pros and right being Cons. Then take the total number of Pros and subtract the number of cons. This is how you can tell if you have improved the overall quality of a desired product based on popular requests and what you had done with past products. Sadly, Halo 5 is a -5 and not a plus anything.
- For Example:
- Halo CE is a control group number, Halo 2 is +4, Halo Custom Edition = +11, Halo 3 is a +7, Halo Wars is +5, Halo 3 ODST is +6, Halo Reach +9, Halo CE Anniversary +7, Halo 4 = +7, Halo Spartan Assault +6, Halo MCC +3, Halo Spartan Strike +5.5, Halo Online +6, Halo 5 Guardians -5, and Halo Wars = +-Yet to be determined.
Project Contingency, based on what we have seen, is predictable at a +10. Having not played the game, we do not know what may be added that will up the score or lower it. Since it is to be like Halo 3, we can at least give it a few bonus points.
Project: Drop however, is yet to be determined. With the current score being seen at a +8 at most; this is due to what our concepts contain. We have yet to see what will become of our valuable product and hope it will be a +15 at some time.

Re: Dedicated Halo 5 Thread
I guess I need to clarify:
- This is a system I have made to better choose my selection of videogame titles:
- What I do is rate a game by comparing what it adds and neglects to add to that style of game Genre (FPS, RPG, Horror, etc). This is used for determining the score of a standalone game title, and the first title in a series. Once a sequel is announced, then the score of that title is automatically set to Zero. This way, the sequel's score; once you have the math of Pros minus Cons (What they added minus what they took away or changed in a bad way), you can tell if it is a good game if the score is a +x. Or, sadly, a bad title if it is a -x
Anyway, once the score is set by the first title, it makes it simple to set the score of the next games. For Example: Halo Combat Evolved set the score limit (Meaning the number of Pros minus Cons of the game will be the minimum requirement for the next game to be deemed a proper succsessor). With the score set, Halo 2 came out and became a +4; due to the addition of vehicle boarding, dual wielding, an awesome story, an enhanced arsenal, Xbox Live, and better graphics. So why isn't is a +7? Because you also have to take away points since they announced you could drive shadows, but could not in the game. Then there is also the four year olds it introduced on Xbox Live, & the fact that they took out the Flood Juggernaut form.
You are probably asking "Why is Halo 5 considered a -5?" This is because statistics is involved. Imagine it like a histogram chart, and you have all these numbers. Now find your mean, median, mode, range, and interquartile range. The average shifts based on the amount of positive and negative scores in the chart. The only reason Halo 5 is a -5 is that because with all the positive numbers that came before hand with improvement upon improvement, their latest "improvements" have more pros than cons, but simply not enough to pass the average. Now you have a score of negative 5.
In short, be careful when improving the game; you don't want a success / flop like Halo 5 Guardians. The only reason it sold successfully is because of the ones who fell for the hype, or the people who simply saw the awesome graphic and new gametypes; these people DIDN'T see the online only gameplay of multiplayer, the lack of co-op (INCLUDING the Xbox Live co-op introduced in Halo CEA). In short, this rating system has allowed me to keep my wallet safer and get myself a good collection of games based on media support, this score chart, and my personal preferances in games. I like to call it my own lifehack.

I figured it that way. What I meant when I asked was rather "What pros and cons did you add together to arrive at those exact numbers?"
Anyway, once the score is set by the first title, it makes it simple to set the score of the next games. I'd like to point out a flaw within your system; missing content shouldn't be a negative but simply a missing positive. Pretend Halo 2 had driveable shadows after all, and they were so awesome they warranted an entire point. That would be a total positive score of +8 minus 2 cons, xblive kiddies and missing flood forms. Because of one bullet point Halo 2 is now a +6.
I'd like to also argue some of your points there. Missing content aside, Halo CE already had a good story. Obviously personal choice is involved, but it wasn't that much better or worse than H:CE's story. Also, there is no way they could have prevented a bunch of little kids coming onto xblive. Even if you don't like it, every game shares it.
You are probably asking "Why is Halo 5 considered a -5?" This is because statistics is involved. Imagine it like a histogram chart, and you have all these numbers. Now you have a score of negative 5.
Now I'm confused. I would have thought H5 was a -5 because it had that many cons compared to Halo 1. I think you're trying to say that H5 is a -5 because the amount it adds to the series is less than the amount previous entries have added, and now you're comparing two different things. Imagine you put all the scores on a graph and found the closest equation. I'm assuming for the numbers you gave it would be similar in shape to y=-(x^2). (google will graph this for you if you don't want to use your brain.) That is the graph of the score of the series. Now the slope of that graph is the amount of cons each game is gaining over its predecessor. (If we're modeling it via equation, note that we're taking the average slope between points with each x value being one game). Obviously it changes, being largest from 1-2 and from 4-5 and smallest on either side of Halo 3. We can find this number at any point along the graph with another equation, which we can also graph. This mystery equation for the score increase between each game, or the rate of change of the score, is also known as the derivative and for the graph we've been using it is similar in shape to y=-2x.
My point with this is that based on the curvature of the first graph, H5 should be around a 0. This could be due to missing content weighing double in your system or you could be giving the H5 number the rate of change between 4 and 5 which should be <0. Or I don't understand what you are trying to say. One or the other.
Or you understand basic calculus and I just wasted a bunch of time explaining derivatives.
In short, be careful when improving the game; you don't want a success / flop like Halo 5 Guardians. If I was going to rate Halo 5 on your scale, I'd give it a +2 based on:- Spoiler:
- + Better graphics than Halo CE
+ Spartan abilities, thruster and clamber fit in well and make the gameplay better than in Halo CE
+ Forge
+ Machinima controls are better
+ Campaign seems designed for co-op
+ Warzone is a decent new mode
= Passable story
= Same interesting enemies
= Good multiplayer maps, could use some more
= Multiplayer is fun
= New vehicles aren't really my thing
- Game requires always online for everything except campaign
- Warzone feels pay-to-win at times (even if it isn't)
And in order to properly compare H5 to Halo CE I had to decide the pros and cons of Halo CE:- Spoiler:
- + Surprisingly decent graphics
+ Fun combat
+ Interesting story
+ Interesting enemy types
+ Great multiplayer maps
+ Great multiplayer
+ Splitscreen for two
+ Splitscreen for four (yes it's that much more important)
+ Coop
+ Vehicles
- Flood levels are tedious
- Multiplayer weapons are unbalanced
Halo CE CE scores higher because of the editing kit.
Frankly the score is an opinion, but I made it to prove that it can still be judged fairly and end up with a positive score.
