Mass Effect: Andromeda
Sooooooooooooooo...
Is anyone else psyched about ME:A? Any thoughts or comments on the subject? Hoping this game doesn't fall victim to Sequelitis?

Think starwars meets Gears of War, but with classes.
Lightsabers aren't introduced until the third title as an OP CQC knife.
Only about a dozen sentient races are known in the trilogy (Andromeda introduces new species, due to new galaxy).
Yes there are interspecies relationships if the player so chooses to get intimate, but the screen cuts black after some PG-13 makeout session. Any actual intimacy you find online is Source Filmmaker Porn.
You still have the force, but it is only used to lift and move enemy characters into your line of fire.
You can customize your character's appearance, but most players stick with the iconic default Shepard and Fem-Shepard.
The gaming community went nuts over the third's ending, and even dlc ending. Not going to spoil it for you, but in a game such as Mass Effect; such an ending is expected.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
Having played through the trilogy, I can confirm that simply isn't remotely the case. Unless you actively attempt to make relationships happen, it plays little to no part in anything. I'd recommend it, if you see it heavily discounted at a Steam Sale or something.Heatguts wrote:Never played mass effect, according to all the memes it's soft-core space porn so thanks but no thanks.

Oh I almost forgot, it is also kinda like Borderlands when it comes to ammo. However, instead of certain weapons having certain ammo types; you can reprogram your weapon on the fly to shoot Armor Piercing Ammo, Incindiary, Shock, Cryo, and Warp Ammo. Each is useful against certain enemies. Some enemies have multiple health bars if forms of Barriers, Armor, Shields, and legitimate Health; so multiple ammos are capable of doing critical damage at different times.

Well that sounds a lot better. I heard about the third game's ending already, kind of (don't know the specifics but I heard you make a really dumb choice). If I ever did want to get into it I'm assuming I'd want to start with the first one, right? It's not one of those weird series where you actually want to skip a few games into it?

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
no skipping. Or else you will be confused as hell. One was good, two improved on one but changed all the ammo to be reloadable rather than overheat. And three adds whipped cream on the cake. We have to see what Andromeda brings us on the 20th.

Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda
Been playing ME: Andromeda. I like and hate it.
Pros: Great story, gameplay, graphics, and content.
Cons: It doesn't feel like Mass Effect. It feels like someone joined BioWare and said: "Let's make a game where mankind has to move from their home galaxy to Andromeda, and encounter unforseen s**t." And someone important in BioWare replied: "Sounds great, but to ensure we get maxed out sales, let's slap Mass Effect on the title, make a few edits to the backstory, and sell it as a spinoff".
The gameplay and theme has twisted so much, it might as well been simply called "ANDROMEDA", and still sold well. The "Mass Effect" in the title feels unessesary.

You didn't tell us the gameplay difference...

Sorry, I was rushed with that message. Had to go to work soon after sending it.
- IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- - No longer do you land on a planet and get set on a one-way path like in Mass Effect 2 and 3, and some planets of Mass Effect 1. Instead, every world you land on has an open world. Only a few sections of the game have a set path.
- To compliment this open world, the Mako has been replaced with the Nomad. It has much better handling and two styles of movement: High Speed and 6-wheel drive. One gets you from A to B faster, the other allows you to slow down and climb steep areas. Using Boost sometimes allows you to climb near vertical walls. It has a jump-jet feature to allow you to jump four feet off the air. (sarcastic yay).
- To further compliment the free-roaming aspect, Halo 5's booster jets were added to the game. You can now jump about 10 feet into the air, hover in place if you are in the air and aiming down sights, or evade in any direction using the jets to propel you forward, backward, or strafing. The jump jet ability has clambering, to better allow you to climb ledges by jumping up and automaticly grabbing hold and lifting yourself up. You can also ground pound nearby enemies if your weapons are drawn.
- You now have a scanner to better allow you to learn about the world around you. It is vital for some missions but overall, it is just used to allow you to earn Research Points.
- Research points allow you to use your R & D department to research blueprints for weapons, armor, and augmentations; and then develop them when you have the proper resources.
- Resources are earned by exploring planets rather than launching probes from orbit. You can collect them from dead bodies, containers, crystal or metallic objects jutting from rocks, driving around in the Nomad to scan for resources in your general area and request a probe to be sent down, or buying them from merchants.
- The cover system has been dumbed down. Now instead of being able to lock onto cover like in Gears of War or Mass Effect 1 - 3, you just simply have your weapons drawn and press your body towards the cover. Cover can be glitchy, since I died in the same spot 6 times because one certain enemy was able to shoot through cover and I had to find out which one it was.
- Classic armor and weapons return in this game, but not all of them. Some weapons, like the Geth Shotgun; cannot be R & D'ed, but may be able to be bought at merchants; I haven't found out yet. The only armor to return from Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3 is Mass Effect 3's design of the standard N7 armor. No Inferno, Cerberus Ajax, Cerberus Assault Armor, Blood Dragon Armor, Collector Armor, Terminus Assault Armor, Kestrel Armor, or variants of the N7 Armor are not in the game. EXPECT them to be in a DLC sometime soon.
- Strike Team Missions are available. No they aren't like the ones in CoD: Black Ops 2. These missions are automatically done by teams you assign to them. Certain missions can be done through multiplayer game modes.
- You can shape your character's personality and traits through dialogue options that aren't Paragon and Renengade. Now you have Charisma, Logic, Kindness, and Level-Headed as your four main options for dialogue, each with their own symbol to let the player know what they are choosing.
- You can get into a relationship with EVERYONE on your ship, and even a select few that live on planets. They really push that forward in this game.
- You don't get to explore the entire Andromeda Galaxy. Since there are now Mass Relays in Andromeda, it would be Lore Breaking to allow your ship to do so. Instead, the entirety of the game (prior to potential upcoming DLCs) takes place in the Heleus Cluster, a sort of nebula with an unusual amount of life sustaining worlds.
- Rather than choosing the gender of your protagonist, you choose which twin you play as, and they happen to be opposite genders. Funnily enough, you can make your character African and your twin Asian just for the hell of it.
- Races guaranteed at returning in the game are the Humans, Asari, Salarians, Turians, Krogan, and Quarians. However, the Vorcha, Drell, Batarians, Hanar, Elcor, and Volus are only hinted at bein on the Quarian Ark that was set to be on it's way in the game's backstory and lore.
