It's been so many years and HALO Custom Edition is still alive and getting some sweet Multiplayer maps. Devs have made some real quality maps over the years and are still submitting super cool maps.


Most of us would probably know but the new maps made are submitted here:http://haloce3.com/

JANUARY and FEBRUARY update has super fun maps. Do check 'em!


Alongside the multiplayer maps, SPv3 is still in the works which also has a reddit:https://www.reddit.com/r/halospv3/. Hope they release it soon!

There's a thing about playing PC games with people who are used to console games over LAN - and it's that you don't have to be anywhere near remotely competitive. You play CS 1.6, and you can actually make a case for the UMP 45 being the best gun in the game. You play Halo CE, and you can use the assault rifle without being rekt by pistols. It's a good time.

And you don't have to win. But it's great to not get sniped in the face when walking out of beaver creek's bases, and its great to have that extra second of aiming time when you play against noobs in cs 1.6. They'll still get you sometimes.

Hmmm.. I've never played CS 1.6 though. CS:GO, yes, i've played it. It's even more fun than COD+Battlefield combined.

Umm, re-released isn't the right term here.
I'm pretty sure that's just CE3 updating it's stock of maps to include the beta released... Jesus, must be over a year ago by now.

Masters said they'd release the maps in order, this is the 3rd level and  being released would not only break that plan, but also there have been no announcements by anyone.

There's no news here.
I'm downloading it to check, but I'm not holding my breath.

EDIT: IIRC, Q2 2016 is when Pillar of Autumn will come out, and they were thinking weekly releases of the first half of the campaign. Masters actually tweeted not long ago that the BSP for AOTCR is nearly finalised, so it looks like that may well go ahead with further extensions.

Im still pretty pissed at the fact that I cannot get Halo CE on my computer! Ive tried everything, and my computer refuses to allow my to run the system. All I can do is go to the main menu and get an error message when I click on stuff.

There is a server online in Custom Edition with forge1.4 map. Can't dload it with HAC nor OS. Googled also but no use. Can anybody direct me to the map?

I havent looked because I don't think it was ever released. Kirby put up a video a few days back bout how he(?) got controller support for the custom functions operating. So at the very least, it's still being worked on.

The thought that someone went through all the trouble to get that in is saddening.

Anyway.
I found out how to screenshot in Halo CE. Turns out using W10 dvr dont work when fullscreen because it minimises when you touch the windows key. Gotta use "-screenshots". Old news, I know, but I managed to not know until just recently.

Once upon a time, I got utterly frustrated with the CE's cramped grandpa butt like graphics. I packed my bags and went on a search on Redtube Youtube for some mods. I struggled so much hard and was too much tired and had shortage of arm to reach the slice of pizza... Atlas, i saw a beautiful thumbnail and clicked on it without a thought. Luckily, it didn't depended on the Law of attraction and was the actual thumbnail from the mod itself. Here it is my kids! Graphic Mods are for Halo PC, not Halo Custom Edition. Well, at least, I thought that was the case.

Actually the whole thing is just that it's a clientside mod for you to play with a different set of graphics. Think of it similar to a texture mod but with model/animation changes.


I've talked to Kinnet about that a few times, reminding him that the animation times arent the same, as well as the fire rates. He would have had to change the animations for it to sync properly.

I've never seen blood gulch look so butt-ugly. I admit that Halo CE's graphics are very low-poly, but the colors are really good and beat Halo 2's colors by a mile. Bloodline, the upgraded Coagulation from H2 in MCC, is pretty much Coag with better graphics but it doesn't have the same vibe as blood gulch because the colors are wrong. The canyon walls are brownish and the ground isn't green enough and it doesn't pop right and kind of looks dumb. It's just as functional a map as Coag or BG but seriously I'd prefer to play BG if we're fighting over graphics alone. Not to mention Damnation is a really pretty map IMO and the reach port did a good job (and also made me realize it was such a great map) but the original still has much plainer, less cluttered and complicated textures, and has its own unique charm.

If you're going to change something about the graphics, don't make it the textures. You need to remodel everything to have less sharp edges. Marines look so awful in CE, it's like they popped out of Operation Flashpoint. Bungie was so proud about how the assault rifle in Reach had more polygons than the entire marine in Halo 3, well, I bet the first person AR in CE has more polygons than the marine in CE as well. (Honestly, the first person models aren't that bad. So just change the bipeds and add some more polygons to the maps.) Obviously the engine wasn't built to handle that so you're kind of screwed there especially if you want client-side compatibility so I suppose you should just leave the graphics the way they were.

TheAandZ, most of the servers in CE are hosted with the Bloodgulch.map. That's the biggest reason i can see that made him mod THIS map!
Heatguts, i agree with u but colors of the MOD beat Halo 2's colors by a light year. :p But yeah, grass is ugly. :/
