though AFAIK they're very Xenophobic

As someone who stayed there for like 6 weeks I'd have to disagree, without going into detail, their xenophobia is more in-line with hyper-conservatism; most of the modern day generation love foreigners due to the overwhelming lack of diversity within their modern day society.
