I think I've actually heard the nanobot explanation mentioned before, but I didn't know that it was official. I think 343 would have been a lot better off biting the bullet with the upset canon fans and calling it a retcon. Space magic like nanobots doesn't really seem to fit in with Halo.

Can flood be measured with forerunner's technological advancement tiers?

If they can, what tier would they be? Would consuming large amount of Covenant make them around tier 2? Do they have any knowledge left from Forerunner-Flood war making them little bit closer to tier 1?

...Hmm, are Flood able to consume huragoks?

I'd think they'd be tier-fluid as they're constantly evolving... They can be extremely primitive yet incredibly advanced at rubiks cube same time.

Tha Flood cannot infect a Huragok, but it can kill it and use it's biomass. Tha Flood adopts technology rather than create it. They are naturally closer to a plant than anything else, but since they have fed on rubiks cube Forerunners, they could have possibly adopted up to Tier 1. So basically what Neesy said.

Huragok can get consumed by flood iirc but Legeko cannot. Huragok have central nervous systems and can have adapted biomass needed for flood sustinence (iirc, rubiks cube carrier forms are supposedly infected Huragok)
