Created some landscapes in Cryengine 3.6.9 EaaS
Below is one of my Cryengine creations. BTW I applied a few months back as an environment artist but never got contacted after that. If you are not contacted, does that mean you didn't get in?
EDIT: some of the images don't have cloud shadows enabled because of some vegetation rendering bug.

If you didn't get contacted its either you didn't make it in or we didn't get to you yet. There's quite a few applications still floating about, some 100+ still need to get looked over.
as for the map, it looks interesting but at the same time really bland. A lot of the areas where the water is doesn't really make sense either

yeah, about being bland I still have to put in a lot of assets and entities and the water is just temporary, its just the default ocean cryengine comes with.

YOu might want to sketch and see how the gameplay would work before putting anything ingame.

In all honesty though I can see the artistic effort you put into this, the smooth curves in the hills, the beautifully Anti-aliased image the nice glowing sun it just makes me wanna *sniffle*...cry.

looking for some serious critique though, how do you think I could improve my level gameplay wise (How could I shape my terrain for interesting gameplay elements or possible asset placement choices?).

Think beforehand what the main objective would be. Generic slayer? One-sided Assault? 2-Sided CTF? Draw a layout and place your spawn points with arrows on how you would think the players would move in that area to complete their objective.
This is how Bungie did it in Halo 2. The pic is a map that got cut in the early stages I guess.
For example:
"Oh, player 1 has spawned near that hill, would he be using that to get the higher ground or not? Is that hill useful in the first place or will he be sniped as soon as he gets on top? Maybe place something at the hill that makes it worth going there like a powerweapon or extra grenades."
You kinda have to imagine the gameplay before actually making something pretty. In one of Halo 3's vidocs they have been playing on a blockout of High Ground to test the gameplay. When they confirmed that the gameplay was good they started making it look pretty. Though the main layout ususally doesn't have to be changed, only the placement of structures.
I myself quickly sculpted the thing and made a texture for it. After that I made a top-view render and went into photoshop to add elements. Though this doesn't have the gameplay that happens inside the structures.

Re: Created some landscapes in Cryengine 3.6.9 EaaS
hey guys I just saw another video by Wenda and I found out about a new method that uses stamps in mudbox to displace a flat plane in mudbox.

Re: Created some landscapes in Cryengine 3.6.9 EaaS
I usually use his stamps using `imprint` for distant mountains and use them in `sculpt` for closer cliffs.
