External Display
Hi fellow forum dwellers,
Recently my external display stopped working, and I wonder if you guys have any Idea why.
When I load up my display it works for a few seconds and then goes black- as in not pixel black but off completely. I think it's related to the power, but I don't know. Any techie here that can help with this? *looking at you ax2themax*
CPU: i7 3520M 2.9 GHz 2-Core
GPU: Nvidia GT640MLE/INTEL 4000
RAM: 4GB [ DDR3 I think ]

Re: External Display
hmm well it's a laptop and you're connecting to an external display correct?...

I really want to be the troll who says "You should try plugging it in", but I'm gonna be nice and not do that.

Re: External Display
HDMI,
But the thing is, I don't think it's related to anything like the cable, ports or anything. I think it's that the screen is losing power by something which I don't know what it is! It's really goddamn annoying..

hmm well does the screen turn on instantly or is there a delay?
sometimes it could be the capacitors since most LCD screens have shitty ones
I don't think I can help without enough details : P

Re: External Display
Have you tried plugging it into anything else that accepts HDMI to see if the picture shows up there?

Re: External Display
I know, the plug I have is a bit tacky and sometimes it gets stuck halfway (TWSS) and it leads me to believe it's all the way in.. (TWSS)

Re: External Display
Umm, hmm, have you checked if your monitor is actually plugged in, lol. If it isn't that, just take out the graphics card, might have gone out, and use the integrated CPU graphics and get a new card, hope this helps!Jaing wrote:Hi fellow forum dwellers,

Re: External Display
Also, you might want to check if it is the monitor, if you have another laying around, or if your friend can give you one to borrow, test it out, and if it doesn't work, get a new one.
