New PC build new help with GPUs

So I just built a new pc but don't have my graphics cards yet.
Specs
Intel Core i7 4790k
Asus sabertooth z97 mark I I
16gb corsair vengeance 1866 ram
Corsair 750
Evga 1300watt
So all I need is my graphics cards andi would like two here are my options
2 Gtx 970s
2 Gtx 770s
2 Gtx 780s
I would like done feedback on these and which one I should get. :)

Btw I meant corsair 750D case

Do not buy a 700 series. There's no reason to with the 900 series cards. I'd also recommend a single card because unless you have super deep pockets and want it, there's no reason.

Since you have a 1300 watt PSU then you should get 2 Video cards also just to let you know
JUST two GTX 760's can outperform a 780
while two GTX 770's outperform a 980
two GTX 970's now that is niceee

BUT still if you bought a 1300 watt and an I7 then you must be on an insane budget so
go with two GTX 970s or maybe one 980 but then you would have to much excess Wattage and might **** with your system I have no clue so yeah dual 970 or one 980 maybe if you get one 980 you can upgrade in the future and get two 980s aghhhh dunno!

You have a superb build.

Like New Guy said, you probably shouldn't do SLI. That's just a preference most enthusiasts have. Go over to Tom's Hardware, they have many pros and cons in SLI areas. For a single card - If you want a 900 series (and not wait for the 800 series) go for the 970, as the 980 is only 15% to 16% faster and costs much more.

If you're completely SET on doing SLI, then get 2 GTX 770's (which is faster than one 970) but at the same time - you'll be losing the 900 series features. If you want a rebellious build, then get a 4-way Titan rig. SLI, at a certain point truly depends on you're wallet, and how ridiculous you want your build to be.

Also, to reply to RockMetal&Time, I use to believe that also, as it is a common misconception: 2 GTX 760's can't outperform a single GTX 780, and 2 GTX 770's can't outperform a 980 in some cases, since some games are more caring towards SLI than others.

You should really post this at a forum like overclocked.net or Toms Hardware, since I'd imagine that there aren't many people here with a ton of PC knowledge.

Personally I think you should go for a 970, and SLI/Crossfire is a double edged sword imo.

hey should i upgrade from my 550ti I was thinking about it b/c lately it seems like 1 gb just ain't what it used to be I'm thinking maybe a 560ti 2gb? most people I know recommend that card I'd recommend a 560ti man the 500 series doesn't get the love it deserves

Go the 970s or a single 980, the 980 won't perform as well but sometimes SLI can be a pain.

Also, what monitor do you have? With a GPU(s) like that you should be looking at something with 144hz.

If you go with the BenQ GET THIS MODEL, the higher models are exactly the same in terms of actual specs, they just cost more for useless features like a headphone rack.


The advantage the ASUS has is that you can play single player games in 1444p (where FPS doesn't matter too much) and in 1080p in online games on ultra at 144fps, although with 900 series cards you could probably get away with being able to play some multiplayer games in 1444p and keep that stable 144fps.

144fps makes games feel much smoother than the usual 60fps that most screens support, its due to the htz that the screen uses.

If your in America both screens will be cheaper, Australia has some bullshit technology tax or something.

I would say 2 gtx 970s. For one, you could overclock the card to comparable 980 speeds and the 4 gb of ram could help in newer games.

My concern is micro stuttering and how it can make any game less enjoyable, but I think V-Sync will cure it if you have a 60hz monitor.

play at a lower resolution or lower graphical fidelity, if you cant hit 30 its time to upgrade, gaming will not be fun

AMD 860K and 750 ti (about 240ish) would be ok for medium settings gaming

HD 7670 and I can run crysis 3 at med. No need for a Titan.

Time to upgrade totally. Still getting around to it.
