Contingency is a threat.
So apparently Contingency is such a big threat to Microsoft that it made a reason for Halo to be released on PC according to Reddit

Thoughts? Do you think Project Contingency alone is enough to harm Halo.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. They do bring up some interesting points.Mr. Secret Man wrote:If it's on PCMasterRace, it's invalid.

The difference between PC gamers and PC elitists is like the difference between Germans and Nazis.
One is a human being, and the other is a dipshit.

Possibly. The thing is, with how much we see currently, I doubt MS would truly see P.C as a threat, at least not yet.
If P.C becomes really popular and starts raising eyebrows, then I'd say yes, but it would really need to take off to do so.
Im positive that if population numbers get to be higher than what's on the latest Halo release (probably MCC or H5G by the time this comes out, which will probably not be too hard, considering the Halo PC-platform communities will likely at least try it), some online media site will write up about it and the story will go everywhere, that would probably be the tipping point. MS would either shut this down (I really hope not) or some other action. Regardless, it scares me. I want this to do well, PC fans like ourselves have waited patiently (mostly patiently anyway) for another PC title, and if we can't finish the fight, they should at least let us have this.

implying that PC gaming isn't popular? PC is extremely popular, and MS sure as hell knows this, they have said it many, many times, especially regarding the success of steam.Stevedoggen wrote:

Re: Contingency is a threat.
Microsoft wont say jack shit to us as it stands anyways. Just like any other indie halo project, MS/343 is just like "Hah, look at these idiots" when our name is mentioned. If we get big, which hopefully we will, it might spark an idea out to MS telling them "Look, here's a PC Halo game, the only one since your shitty port of Halo 2. You have a viable platform, thousands upon thousands of players who are willing to drop cash to even help out teams like this. You have a chance to make a huge profit and expand your playerbase for future works, so why are you skimping out?"
Either that or they release MCC for PC some time after contingency comes out and they C&D us, which would suck

Re: Contingency is a threat.
People say this about every Halo game before it comes out. It's not going to happen, and it bugs me when people come up with these ridiculous conspiracies.
- Waste of Time:
Obviously it was put into the Amazon systems by somebody not affiliated with 343, and as they said, it was a typo. These things happen. Of course Microsoft acted quickly to fix this so they could avoid confusion.Amazon listing:
Most of us freaked out when Halo MCC on THREE Amazon stores listed it as a PC game. Not every Amazon, not one Amazon, but 3!
Microsoft claimed it was just a typo error, but then why did they show up in different times and why did Microsoft act so quickly on it?
Halo peripherals are nothing new. They make all sorts of random things for the sake of getting a bit(a lot) of extra cash.Microsoft's mouse tweet:
In case you haven't seen it already, this is Microsoft's tweet about a Halo 4 mouse.

You really think they would have drivers specifically for a future Halo 3 release publicly available? Obviously just a mistake of some kind, or it was for the developers as he said and was still a mistake to have been released.AMD Catalyst Halo 3 driver:
In a Catalyst driver source code, you can find a driver specified for Halo 3. There is a chance that this driver was used on the devkits for Halo MCC, but why is it a public driver then?
Article
Nope. Group does not mean game, and they were taken down anyway. How could somebody working at Steam think it would be a good idea to add those groups if they had been given confidential information about the games from Microsoft? Nope nope.Halo CE, 2 and 3 official groups on Steam:
Someone spotted 3 official groups of the original Halo trilogy (1, 2 and 3), but they were removed shortly after.

Microsoft still easily has control with Windows, and Halo is the essentially Xbox One's last hope(or one of the few). Of course they aren't going to want to split their Xbox One sales by releasing everything on PC, because the current system forces people to buy a console.Microsoft's fight against Linux:
With Valve being a big supporter of Linux, Microsoft thinks of it as a threat (I don't see why they wouldn't, to be honest) and the only way to fight it is by beating it where Linux is about to rise in, games.
If Microsoft were to release Halo exclusive to Windows and Xbox, then Linux wouldn't grow as fast and thus Microsoft would have a better chance of holding it off.
People already pirate actual games on the 360, even if isn't as simple as a PC. Them allowing the Xbox One to open .MKV files is a bit odd, but is likely just to slightly increase the console's usefulness and get people to actually use it. That is only more evidence that they will keep Halo console-exclusive, which would also help save the system.Xbox is dying and is patching in MKV formats to protect itself:
With all the peasants saying that we are a bunch of pirates, soon they will start doing it on their own Xboxes.
This video of RTU
Why would they add this support if the console weren't dying? Why support pirating on a console built only to drag in money?
There was no way they were going to make any money from Halo: Spartan Assault on Console, and the game itself was essentially made for mobile devices. It wouldn't make sense to have the game on Mobile devices and the Xbox, but not PC.Microsoft's plan B is PC:
There's been tons of Xbox exclusive games that's been confirmed for PC. Ryse, PvZ: GW, Fable: Anniversary, Halo: SA, etc.
Ryse sales was crappy.
It's amazing that Fable is even around anymore considering how crappy The Journey and 3 was.
Halo: SA sold like crap until they released it on Steam.
Why wouldn't they want to milk out more money from MCC?
I highly doubt Contingency is much of a threat to Microsoft. If they cared, they would simply issue a Cease and Desist order.Project Contingency:
If you haven't heard about it, Contingency is a fanmade Halo game made in Cry Engine.
If this game gets released, Xbox and Microsoft is doomed.
If Microsoft releases Halo officially on PC before Contingency's release, then they will have a chance to keep Halo as a king.

Microsoft is not gonna release Halo on PC anytime soon. At all. Unless they want to destroy any last hopes of getting the majority of gamers back on their console side.

with MCC collection 343i have been bombarded with "IS THIS GONNA BAE ON PC" comments
hell everyday look at N4G or whatever gaming news site and at least once a week there is a 343 person like , Kiki, Frank or Bonnie saying in an Interview
"we do not have plans for PC at this time"
"Right now its all Xbox"
"We know of the demand".etc
hell even Phil Spencer the new head at Xbox already has plans for reviving Games for Windows Live
I am 100% sure that if MCC collection were to come to PC it would be in 2016 alongside GFWL
OR maybe they'll make it a Windows 9 or Windows 8 exclusive.
