Sooooooooooooooo...
Is anyone else psyched about ME:A? Any thoughts or comments on the subject? Hoping this game doesn't fall victim to Sequelitis?

Think starwars meets Gears of War, but with classes.
Lightsabers aren't introduced until the third title as an OP CQC knife.
Only about a dozen sentient races are known in the trilogy (Andromeda introduces new species, due to new galaxy).
Yes there are interspecies relationships if the player so chooses to get intimate, but the screen cuts black after some PG-13 makeout session. Any actual intimacy you find online is Source Filmmaker Porn.
You still have the force, but it is only used to lift and move enemy characters into your line of fire.
You can customize your character's appearance, but most players stick with the iconic default Shepard and Fem-Shepard.
The gaming community went nuts over the third's ending, and even dlc ending. Not going to spoil it for you, but in a game such as Mass Effect; such an ending is expected.

Having played through the trilogy, I can confirm that simply isn't remotely the case. Unless you actively attempt to make relationships happen, it plays little to no part in anything. I'd recommend it, if you see it heavily discounted at a Steam Sale or something.

Oh I almost forgot, it is also kinda like Borderlands when it comes to ammo. However, instead of certain weapons having certain ammo types; you can reprogram your weapon on the fly to shoot Armor Piercing Ammo, Incindiary, Shock, Cryo, and Warp Ammo. Each is useful against certain enemies. Some enemies have multiple health bars if forms of Barriers, Armor, Shields, and legitimate Health; so multiple ammos are capable of doing critical damage at different times.

Well that sounds a lot better. I heard about the third game's ending already, kind of (don't know the specifics but I heard you make a really dumb choice). If I ever did want to get into it I'm assuming I'd want to start with the first one, right? It's not one of those weird series where you actually want to skip a few games into it?

no skipping. Or else you will be confused as hell. One was good, two improved on one but changed all the ammo to be reloadable rather than overheat. And three adds whipped cream on the cake. We have to see what Andromeda brings us on the 20th.

Mass Effect: Andromeda Empty Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda

Post by DreuxPhoenix March 23rd 2017, 2:26 am

Been playing ME: Andromeda. I like and hate it.

Pros: Great story, gameplay, graphics, and content.

Cons: It doesn't feel like Mass Effect. It feels like someone joined BioWare and said: "Let's make a game where mankind has to move from their home galaxy to Andromeda, and encounter unforseen s**t." And someone important in BioWare replied: "Sounds great, but to ensure we get maxed out sales, let's slap Mass Effect on the title, make a few edits to the backstory, and sell it as a spinoff".

The gameplay and theme has twisted so much, it might as well been simply called "ANDROMEDA", and still sold well. The "Mass Effect" in the title feels unessesary.

You didn't tell us the gameplay difference...

Sorry, I was rushed with that message. Had to go to work soon after sending it.
